Jr. NBA Skills Challenege 2022

The Jr. NBA Skills Challenge provides boys and girls ages 13 and under the opportunity to showcase their dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense skills in the sport of basketball. Boys and girls compete separately in two different age groups: 11U and 13U. Participants compete in up to three levels of competition – Local, Regional and National Finals.

AGE GROUPS:

There are two age groups: 11U and 13U with boys and girls competing separately.  Boys and girls ages 13 and under MUST provide a copy of a valid birth certificate or other proof of identification for age verification.  

Age Groups Born Between

11 U                    Born on or after September 1, 2010

13 U                    September 1, 2008 - August 31, 2010

SKILL STATION OVERVIEW

Participants will compete in each of the five standardized skills to earn a total cumulative time resulting in a final score:

Dribbling: Challenges participants in stationary, zig-zag, and speed dribbling. Shooting: Challenges participants to make jump shots from the elbow. Lay-Up: Challenges participants to make lay-up shots. Passing: Challenges participants to accurately pass towards a wall target and receive a pass. 

Defense & Bonus Free Throw: Challenges participants in defensive lane slides, sprinting,

and free throw shooting.

LOCAL COMPETITION: 

NuBreed Academy will host a local competition on Sunday April 24th at 3:00 pm at Campbellsville University Harrodsburg Gym (located at 772 University Drive in Harrodsburg). We will stay as long as we need to to ensure all kids get a chance to participate.  

There will be a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finisher in each age and gender group.  These finishers in each age and gender group will have the opportunity to advance to the Regional Competition. 

REGIONAL COMPETITION: May 2022 Cleveland, OH

The Regional Competition will take place in May in Cleveland, Ohio. Only the Local Competition 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers are eligible to compete in Regional competition. Local winners will NOT automatically advance to Regional competition.  You will be contacted by the Jr. NBA as to possible advancement to Regional competition.  

The top six (6) scorers in each age and gender division across all Local Competitions within the specified geographical market will be invited to participate in a Regional Competition. At the Regional Competition, all participants will receive a Jr. NBA t-shirt and all times are reset to zero for the competition.

The Regional Champion (1st place overall) in each age and gender division will be awarded and have the opportunity to advance to the National Finals. All Regional Champions DO NOT automatically advance to the National Finals. Their final time will be compared to the other Regional Champion qualifiers in their age and gender division to determine the top three (3) scorers advancing to the National Finals. All qualifiers will be notified directly by the Jr. NBA as to their advancement.

NATIONAL FINALS: June 2022

The top three (3) scorers in each age and gender division across all of the Regional Competitions will be invited to participate in the National Finals. All times are again reset to zero. The twelve (12) qualifying participants (3 in each age and gender division) will receive an all-expenses paid trip for two to compete in the National Finals held in conjunction with the 2022 NBA Draft presented by State Farm.

3. Bring a copy of your child's birth certificate with you when attending your local competition
